Fans swamped the annual Wizard World Comic Con & Gaming event held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in the heart of Philadelphia this past Thursday through Sunday. Aisles were packed with collectible curiosities of every kind imaginable. A goodly number of comic and sketch artists were selling their wares while they worked, including many drawings sold as Art Card Originals and Editions.DSCN6178DSCN6177-1

Cosplayers were everywhere this year, adding considerably to the show’s fun and excitement. DC was well represented by a number of Harley Quinns who pranced through the aisles. Batman and Superman were there, too, along with Green Lantern, the Flash, and a very timely Wonder Woman. Of course, Marvel had their share, too, along with a number of who-the-heck-are they? characters. My personal favorites were a seven foot Groot and a smaller than average Godzilla.

DSCN6162Celebrities abounded this time, all eager to talk with showgoers, with many available for autograph signings, photo opportunities and VIP packages. This year’s heavy hitters included Jesse Eisenberg, Chuck Norris, John Cusack, Framke Janssen, Michael Rooker, Nichelle Nichols, Theo Rossi, Sean Gunn, Doctor Who Companions Billie Piper and Pearl Mackie, and many more. WWE fans also enjoyed meeting Superstars Alexa Bliss, Bray Wyatt, The Hardy Boyz. Enzo Amore, and Colin Cassady.DSCN6163

As added bonuses this year, the Wizards sponsored many fascinating panels, cosplay workshops, a live concert by rock legend Gene Simmons, and Horror Fest, a three day horror film festival presented by Bloody Disgusting. In addition to screening of fan-favorite films, the festival featured special guest Q&A’s, horror icons, and meet & greets with actors, writers, directors, and more.fullsizeoutput_6bcc-1

Of course, the show couldn’t be complete without a special event screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show; this one hosted by Brad Majors himself, Barry Bostwick.DSCN6159

If you missed this year’s Philly show, don’t fret because Wizard World Cons are held across the country. For more information, go to wizardworld.com.
