An image from Studio E's Mike Sosnowski trading card seriesMike Sosnowski sure knows his way around a sketchbook. The experience gained as an animator for Ralph Bakshi’s Lord of the Rings and as a storyboard artist for Disney, Dreamworks, Warner Brothers, and Universal has prepared him well. Well enough, in fact, for him to participate in a card set featuring his monster art. Says card manufacturer Mark Abent, “We are not a large manufacturer; we were going to put Mike’s art on trading cards a few years back, but the time was not right…we can only make a series that fits our budget. This way we can tailor the series that best fits the market. We try to come out with a set every few years. [We looked] deep into Mike’s monsters; there is a lot going on within the images. They all have a unique style within their world of a twisted reality—[a world] between fear and insanity. Our company (Studio E) always looks for more than just a card set.”

The set is available through hobby dealers and through the company’s website, mnscards.com. To learn more about The Monster Art of Mike Sosnowski, pick up the February/March issue of Non-Sport Update, shipping January 9, 2012.
