Brand new trading card manufacturer RRParks CARDS has just launched a Kickstarter campaign with the modest goal of raising $1,600. Just in case you missed our coverage inside Non-Sport Update, our previous blog coverage, or the promo cards inside NSU and The Wrapper, RRParks Cards is at the start of launching four sets of Three Stooges trading cards. The first series is due soon. The four series will cover every angle of the Three Stooges—the short films, movies, television series, etc. and its all being put together but major Stooges fan Richard Parks.
Similar to all Kickstarter projects, the campaign has many different funding levels. The main thrust of the campaign is the ‘retro-stalgic’ style 36 trading card subset. According to the Kickstarter page, “This 36-card continuation of the first Three Stooges trading card series of 1959 and features Larry, Moe, Curly, Shemp, Curly Joe DeRita, Joe Besser and the lovely Christine McIntyre, produced in full color using the original 1959 color pallet and production qualities replicating trading cards of the 1950s.”
The campaign will appeal to collectors of all budgets. For a meager $2, you can get involved and get a cool “retro-stalic” exclusive promo card. There are other easy-on-the-wallet entry points but if you want the full 36-card 1950s style “retro-stalic” Stooges set, you’ll want to pledge $50 (though for $75, you the set, a series two base set, and other goodies, hmmm….). There are many other pledge levels and for all those interested, you really ought to check out the Chronicles Of The Three Stooges ~ 1950s Style Trading Cards Kickstarter page.
NSU wishes RRParks CARDS the very best on reaching its Kickstarter goal! Be sure to check out the campaign. Also, while on the Stooges subject, be sure to also check out the upcoming Oct/Nov ’14 issue of NSU containing four new Chronicles of The Three Stooges Series 2 promo cards shipping next week.
