We are deeply saddened to report friend of Non-Sport Update and The Toser’s, Cliff Tooker passed away Monday evening at the age of 68.
Those who came to the Philly Show know Cliff and wife Carol from seeing them at the admission table where the Tookers cheerfully greeted show attendees. Cliff was also seen all around the show floor taking photos for the magazine, blog, and NSU forum. Back home in Harrisburg, Cliff worked for NSU for the past eight years as the head of Subscriptions Services.
Cliff was a very active person and had a very multifaceted life. Though he was in a wheelchair, it didn’t slow him down and he was involved in more things than most people including travel, photography, conservation advocacy and many other clubs and activities on his own. Cliff was also a wizard on the computer and performed troubleshooting and computer repair for many years.
In the hobby, Cliff produced his own small five-card series of nature cards in 2013 featuring some of his incredible birding photography. When the cards were released, we did an interview with Cliff and you can still find that here on the blog. Cliff talked about his love of photography, card collecting, and some other things.
A couple of years ago, Cliff and Carol traveled to MCM Birmingham Comic Con and Memorabilia as part of a larger vacation and got to meet many Card Talk members at our table at the show.
On a personal note, Cliff was a lot of fun to be around and I will miss him. Cliff had many, many friends here in Harrisburg and all over the world including a small group of friends in Istanbul where he visited more then once. Cliff is survived by wife Carol. We’ll have much more about Cliff in an upcoming issue of Non-Sport Update.
