The 59th Philly Non-Sports Card Show gets underway today and Cryptozoic Entertainment is announcing several new licenses.
First up is Supernatural. While Inkworks covered Supernatural Seasons 1 through 3, Cryptozoic plans to bring things current and beyond. Cryptozoic’s Brand Manager for Trading Cards and Collectibles Miranda Charsky says “We are very excited to partner with WB Consumer Products to bring fans a series of awesome collectible products based on this highly popular series.” She continues “The show will be broken up into a series of three sets covering Seasons 1 – 3, Seasons 4 – 6, and then Seasons 7 & 8 (and dare we hope, 9?)”
Cryptozoic hopes to include signers not previously covered in Supernatural products as well as the rest of the main cast. Charsky says “We are working with Chris Cerasi on the set, who has been a part of the team working on all the Supernatural books, so he has been a great asset and brings a lot of Supernatural knowledge to the table. Definitely a great addition for fans. We anticipate Wardrobe [cards] in each set, and hope to add Sketch cards when possible. The first release is slated for 2014, continuing once a year.”
Cryptozoic Entertainment will also release cards based on the DC Comics/Warner Bros. television series Arrow. Charsky says “We are working to bring fans of Arrow great collectable products based on the new and acclaimed show on CW. I’m a sucker for anything with Summer Glau, so I am very excited to see her in the Season 2 premier airing later this fall.”
Cryptozoic’s first Arrow release will cover Season 1 and is expected in 2014. After that, the company plans additional Arrow releases, each covered a single season.
Cryptozoic has also announced it has obtain the license for Adventure Time, the D&D inspired animated series, which runs on Cartoon Network. CZE has just been given the green light on Adventure Time and we do not have many details to share. Keep an eye out for more information in Non-Sport Update magazine and here on the NSU blog.
Finally, Cyptozoic has announced it has obtained the license for Scandal, the hugely popular ABC series. I think it’s best we leave the announcement to Charsky as we can say it no better. “We will be releasing a set of collectable cards for Olivia Pope, her band of gladiators, and the key players in DC” said Charsky. She continues “As one of the hottest stars on TV right now, Kerry Washington is one of my favorite actresses.”
While Supernatural and Arrow have been in the works for a bit, like Adventure Time, Scandal has just been added to Cryptozoic’s slate. Charsky said “Scandal EP Shonda Rhimes, also known for her award-winning work on Grey’s Anatomy, stirs up an exiting blend of politics, love, and drama, and we’ll be there to capture all the fan-favorite moments. We will be working up the rest of the plans for the series, the ink is drying as we speak, but the first release is expected for 2014.”
Cryptozoic already has a busy schedule of new released planned for 2014 and so adding these four new licenses is sure to keep Charsky chained to her desk for the coming months. We are really looking forward to these exciting series from Cryptozoic Entertainment.
