Monsterwax’s Kurt Kursteiner is getting a kick out of starting his newest sinister set, Legendary Lovecraft Series 2, on Kickstarter. Well over his stated pledge goal, the card producer is now offering a number of reward level stretches to add value to an already exciting project.

Kursteiner’s series 1 set covered over 50 of H.P. Lovecraft’s stories graphically across 66 cards, along with a number of insidious inserts. While collectors loved them, Kurt knew there were still more tales to tell and series 2 was born. Says Kursteiner, “[Series 2] will finish out all the Lovecraft stories (30+) that we couldn’t fit in the first series, and at an affordable price. The best part is that [artist] Ricardo Garijo, Jr., agreed to finish the same work he did so well with series 1. (I was a quite worried as he was getting hired for other projects, but he carved us out some months because he’s such a big Lovecraft fan!)  So it should be a really neat set when it’s done.”

The current product works as a stand alone set or, as Kursteiner advised, as an expansion set that, by adding cards for all of Lovecraft’s remaining stories, makes the series truly complete. Like the 1st series, the 2nd series will be numbered, limited and never reprinted. The first series of cards was limited to 500 # boxes. Series 2 will be limited to about half of that: only 500# sets! If you missed Legendary Lovecraft Series 1, fear not because certain pledge levels include it, too.
