Hey, Muppets fans– We’re happy to report a great new find. In order to show their design capabilities, Harrison/Erickson, Inc created a set of eight oversized Muppets cards (including one advertisement card for the agency) in 1978 to send to prospective clients in order to get new customers. They were not meant to be a retail item and the cards are random or skip-numbered. The cards were packaged in packs of eight cards (in a very cool wax wrapper with Topps gum!) and we recently learned the company had some leftover packs. They are very limited.

Bonnie Erickson (aka Bonnie Lewis) is the designer of Miss Piggy, Statler, and Waldorf. The packs are autographed by Bonnie who has also developed mascots for sports team (Phillie Phanatic, Youppi!) and is also credited with the development of the first Happy Meal Puppets for McDonald’s. There is another pack of eight cards showing some of Bonnie’s other designs but it is not available at this time and does not include any of the Muppets.

Earlier Muppets sets include: a 60-card set called Muppets by Cardz Distribution in 1993, an 80-card set Muppets Take the Ice by Cardz Distribution in 1994, and the 25-card factory set The Muppet Show 25th Anniversary by Rittenhouse Archives in 2002. Appearing on eBay are English, Israeli, and Swedish Muppets cards. There was a 12-card set found on Cheerios boxes in 1979. Four boxes had three cards each and this is a tough set to find in nice shape because the cards were cut from the boxes. Not too much information available but there appears to have been six PEZ stickers in the early 1990s.

{Editor’s Note: We had a very limited supply of packs which were offered for sale here on the blog. The packs have now sold out and the order link has been removed. There is a chance we may be able to secure more so please check back.}
