Last year, we reported on a series of banned books trading cards published by the Lawrence Public Library in Lawrence, KS. This week, the libary is releasing another seven cards in the series.

Speaking of the books included in the series, Jeni Daley of the Lawrence Public Library says “Some of them are banned by public school districts, some are banned by whole state school boards, some are just challenged by different parent groups.”

The cards are being revealed this week for Banned Books Week. Titles include: Bless Me Ultima, Leaves of Grass, The Absolutely True Story of a Part-Time Indian, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Catcher in the Rye, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, and Charlotte’s Web. You can learn more about the 99 submitted entries as well as why the books were banned on the Lawrence Public Library website. There’s also a link to buy your own set for just $7. The 2012 set is also available and can be purchased here.
