My Little Pony logoIntroduced by Hasbro in 1983, My Little Pony now has generations of fans and remains popular with people of all ages today. IDW Limited is releasing a deluxe hardcover edition which card collectors will be familiar with as IDW Limited will soon be releasing a similar edition for the classic Topps’ Mars Attacks trading cards.

IDW Limited will release the book three different formats, a Red Label Edition limited to 600, a Black Label Edition limited to 150, and a Blue Label Edition limited to 30. In addition there will be six different versions of each edition, featuring the following My Little Pony core cast members – Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Rarity. As an example, the Red Label Edition will have 100 copies for each core cast member, making it a total of 600 copies of the Red Label Edition.

The Editions will represent the first four issues of the new ongoing comic series from IDW, as well as a cover gallery. Artists featured in the comics and covers include J. Scott Campbell, Stephanie Buscema, and a name familiar to non-sport card collectors, Katie Cook.

Each Red Label Edition will contain a hand-drawn sketch card and many artists are participating including Tim Proctor, Brenda Little, and Tony Fleecs. The Black Label Editions will also include a hand-drawn sketch card as well as a sketch plate, which is original artwork on quality thick art paper. Artists participating on the Black label Editions include Miran Kim, Chris Uminga, and Apricot Mantle, among others. The Blue Label Edition will contain a full color 11 x 14 painting from Sara Richard, a recent Eisner Award nominee who is also well known to non-sports card collectors from several sets where her work was featured on sketch cards.

IDW Limited Marketing and Community Manager Nate Murray stated that this is the “biggest book ever” done by IDW Limited and indicated that other similar projects are in the development stage. Murray says “We love the cards, because they’re a way to offer original art to our fans through all of our Labels (Red, Black & Blue) and I think the fans are going to be really excited about the future”.

Sweetie pie? Odd choice of words for someone that’s never met Ms. Blake. Seems rather personal if you ask me, even a bit much for me and I am one of her best friends and work with her every day.
