London Cigarette Card Company Cigarette Card Caralogue

So you collect non-sport trading cards. Haven’t you occasionally come across what you thought were maybe cards from England? You liked them but didn’t really know anything about their worth, year, etc. There’s a remedy to this dilemma.

For the past 80 years, London Cigarette Card Company has published yearly updates to its catalogues which cover around 13,000 series. Because the books are price guides and not selling guides, prices are listed for sets currently available or those turning up occasionally in the market; but if there is only a price for odds (singles), this is an indication a set is hard to come by or might even be extremely rare. The company also publishes a monthly entitled Card Collectors News available by subscription.

The 2014 Trade Card Catalogue is 216 pages long (including 8 color pages) and covers A & BC sets, which are often the same titles as the Topps issues such as Civil War News, Battle, Funny Valentines, and many more. The listings are alphabetical by manufacturer and you will find various U.S. sets throughout the book. Some examples are Breygent, Comic Images, Cryptozoic, Rittenhouse, Upper Deck, and of course Topps (both U.K. and U.S.). It’s interesting to see what prices the various sets are selling for in the U.K. So the Trade Card Catalogue furnishes information not only about U.K. issues but U.S. issues as well.

For those interested in cigarette cards, London Cigarette also publishes a Cigarette Card Catalogue. This book is 232 pages long, including 8 color pages. Besides all of the U.K. issues, there is a section called Foreign Tobacco Issuers. In this section, you will find many U.S. tobacco issues, as well as issues from Canada, India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, etc.

Most card collectors enjoy the hunt so if you do, you might spot something in one of these catalogues with an interesting title or a title for cards you never knew existed. There is a whole world out there of cards to add to your collection. Have fun!
