The Wizard World Comic Con roared into town this weekend for its annual visit to the city of brotherly love. Held at the mammoth Pennsylvania Convention Center, the show continues to amaze with its diversity of entertainment. In addition to the expected comic book sellers, wares of every type and description were available for sale, including some that almost defied description. For example, one mad-hatted dealer peddled very tiny hats, another sold flyable mini-drones, while a third hawked live praying mantises. A plethora of talented sketch artists were on the scene, too, while only a few (i.e. Ken Kelly, Rusty Gilligan, Mark Pingatore) would be immediately recognizable to trading card collectors. One comics dealer had a rather large number of original Mars Attacks cards for sale, offering them for $55-$60 per card.

Doctor Who fans young and old attended Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con
Doctor Who was everywhere at this show, not only at the dealer tables but also in person, in the form of 10th Doctor David Tennant and co-star, actress Billie Piper. The pair held a Q&A panel (not open to the press), signed autographs and provided photo ops to well-heeled fans. A number of other celebrities appeared to the delight of the thousands of fans in attendance, many of whom graciously posed for the NSU camera.
Wizard World Comic Cons are scheduled throughout the year at various major U.S. locations. To find one near you, visit wizardworld.com. The next Wizard World Philadelphia is June 2-5, 2016. Be sure to check out our exclusive photo gallery below.
