Steel City Con Show Report

Written By: Harris Toser - Jul• 30•11

Steel City Con is under way this weekend in Monroeville, PA (just outside of Pittsburgh). The show boasts a little something for everyone. Non-Sport Update is set up in the celebrity aisle, along with Lindsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman, Warehouse 13), Jeremy Bulloch (Star Wars), Dennis Haskins (Saved by the Bell), Torrie Wilson (former WWE Diva), Don Stark (That 70s Show), Richard LeParmentier (Star Wars), and Tony Todd (Candyman).

The show seems to be well attended. The lines for celebrity autographs on Saturday were steady all show long with the lines for Wagner being the longest. Con-goers seem to really appreciate the celebrities appearing at the show.

We’ve noticed many more card dealers at the show since the last time we exibited several years ago. Exhibiting dealers include Bryan Schemine, “Tbear” (from NSU Card Talk), Mr. Jake, Ed’s Non-Sports, Nathan Stubbs, and others. On the artist side, you’ll find Laura Inglis and Kevin Leen. On the promo card front, look for an exclusive Boba Fett card from Inglis and cards from the 501st Legion (Garrison Carida).

Look in the upcoming NSU for more Steel City Show details including what the hot sellers were this weekend. And be sure to check out the gallery below for sites from the show. We’ll also have an interview with Jeremy Bulloch in the days ahead. The next Steel City Con will be held Dec. 2-4.

Nice pictures Harris, the show looks like a lot of fun! Nice shot with the cow! The guy dressed as Batman is somewhat lame, lol! Just who does he think he is?

Thanks a lot Bob. I have no idea who that impostor Batman thinks he is. He definitely doesn’t hold a candle to the “Batman” on Card Talk, the real Batman! Ha ha.

Actually, I was impressed when he fanned out his arms to show his Bat Wings. Of course, he almost poked the eyes out of the people standing near him. But I got my shot so all is well. :-)

    Like the cow. :)

I’m digging that Poison Ivy lady. Cute! I need some of those 501st cards. There are too many for me to collect them all but I need images for future PCE editions (nice to see that guy bought one).

I really think there should either be a “weight limit” and or “age limit” to people in costumes. Your adults now. Have some modesty or respect for us, the viewers. LOL

I saw Ms. Wagner 2 years ago up in Framingham, Mass. She looked pretty good. But I would have liked to have met Tony Todd. I didn’t care for the “Candyman” movies but he was really great as Worf’s brother Kurn, and as the older Jake Sisko in that fantastic DS9 episode {that I can’t bloody remember the name of}.
