Non-Sport Update Dec '12/Jan '13 variant cover

With Skyfall hitting theaters this past weekend and setting box office records, James Bond is everywhere. Good thing for us – we’ve got the man with the Golden Anniversary on the cover of our new Dec/Jan issue, which starts shipping this week (more on the new issue here on the blog in the next couple of days). And we couldn’t stop ourselves at just one cover, so we’re serving up a second helping of Bond via a very special variant issue coinciding with U.K.’s Memorabilia convention in late November.

It has been a couple of years since Non-Sport Update‘s last variant covers with Ewoks and Dexter on the covers. The Dec/Jan variant features an exclusive gold-foil cover—the first time we have ever featured gold-foil on the cover of Non-Sport Update. It is limited to just 300 copies, which (along with those pesky Ewoks), is our lowest print-run ever. The Skyfall cover (shown above) is similar to the standard issue’s cover but tweaked just a bit for good measure. Inside is an exclusive Rittenhouse Archives James Bond 50th Anniversary Trading Cards Series 2 promo which can only be found in this issue. It is card number P5 and is shown at the bottom of this post. The feature articles and other inside contents are the same in both issues.

Those going to Memorabilia on November 24 and 25 at the NEC in Birmingham England can pick up a copy at the Non-Sport Update table. We’ll be holding back some copies for those unable to journey across the pond to order via the NSU website. Those copies are available for pre-order now via the NSU Online Store and will ship once Memorabilia has concluded at the end of the month.

This issue will have special appeal to both British readers and Anglophiles alike due to a several features inside. In addition to our cover story on Rittenhouse Archives’ Bond retrospective series, this year happens to mark the tenth time I have been lucky enough to travel to the U.K  for Memorabilia Birmingham and I have written about the experience in a special Memories of Memorabilia story. The article features photos from the show and some of the collectors we have met along the way. And those photos spill over onto the cover of the Take-Along Price Guide cover as well. We also spotlight Cult Stuff’s Sherlock Holmes series inside, another property born in the U.K.

So whether you are a Bond aficionado, a promo card collector, an Anglophile, or just a card collector who likes ultra limited-edition items, you’ll want to pick-up a copy. Once again, you can do so through the NSU Online Store.
