The Philly Show Goes Wacky!

The Fall Philly Non-Sports Card Show is now less then one month away. We’ll have a number of announcements during the month about promotional cards and other exciting things happening at the show. We’d be remiss if we didn’t point out one bit of news.

The Fall Philly Non-Sports Card Show is now less then one month away. We’ll have a number of announcements during the month about promotional cards and other exciting things happening at the show.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t point out one bit of news that has already been announced elsewhere. That the campaign to bring Paul Bines (the podcaster who produces UK CardCast) has met with success! We wrote about artist Chris Bradberry’s effort to “Get Paul To The Philly Show” back in July. We are especially excited to have Paul visit our show and hope many of our readers will come to the show not only for the promos, artists, and dealers, but also to meet Paul.

We’re happy to announce the addition of two artists to our line-up of guests: George Wright and Jeff Zapata. Wright has worked on many Wacky Packages stickers for Topps and has also worked on Garbage Pail Kids. Wright is also a long-time friend of Non-Sport Update and Roxanne Toser. He designed the cover of our book, The Beat Goes On and On… and was instrumental with helping to compile accurate information for the first edition. Jeff Zapata worked for Topps for many years and has many trading card credits to his name. He’s probably most familiar to card collectors for his work on Wacky Packages and Garbage Pail Kids but has also worked on Lord of the Rings and has been the editor at Topps on many licensed card sets such as Marvel Legends, The Simpsons, Pokeman, and Yu-Gi-Oh. Look for Zapata at the ShopTopps tables.

The complete line-up of guests can be found here.

Continuing with our “Wacky” theme, we’re also delighted to announce that ShopTopps.com has produced a Wacky Packages postcard that will be given away while supplies last with your paid admission to the show (and strictly limited to one per person). The postcard can be seen below and features art on the front by Neil Camera (the original concept was by Mark Parisi).

We will have many other promotional cards to announce. Please keep an eye on the NSU Card Talk Thread.
